Historic Formula 2 Stockcars

British stockcar racing started in the 1950's.  It was a cheaper way for the working man to get into motorsport.  Pre and post-war small cars were used, for example Ford Model Y's from the 1930's, Ford Populars, Austin Sevens and Fiat Topolinos.    The chassis were boxed to give them strength and front, rear and side nudge bars were added. As the sport rapidly became popular rules and regulations were drawn up to keep building the cars fair and evenly matched engine sizes (usually 1172cc side valve flatheads).

WRCC has now developed this formula which is raced on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm.  Mardave has produced a 1/12th scale kit which can be purchased online direct, or from the Club Shop. The historic formula 2's run along side the the popular Hot Rods from the early 1970's.  So you will see and can also race Ford Anglias and Mk1 Escorts racing around the oval track.

So come along and have some cheap fun, as did the pioneers from the golden years of stockcar and hot rod racing.

Spare part and advice are available from the club.  For the F2 stockcars there is a £30 limit on an electronic speed controller, however mechanical speedos can, and are, used.  All body shells are made from ABS plastic.
