Always aim to win, but have fun too. About Chris: Chris as been at the forefront of the West London club for many years, having raced there since before the current 190mm touring cars were introduced. Chris initially raced 1/10th scale electric off road, but later switched to flat tracks when someone had the idea to put a saloon car body shell on a buggy. The wide body touring car class was formed, and Chris took to it like a duck to water.Chris spent the following years working his way up through the rankings at West London and seeing the introduction of the 190mm rubber tyre touring car class, which replaced the old wide bodies touring cars, which ran on foam tyres.Chris was a club champion and national winner in the stock and then 19 turn classes, before becoming British champion in the 19-turn class in 2007. Following this, Chris took up the faster modified touring car class and is now a regular top 20 finisher at national championship meetings, having several A finals to his credit as well. He shares a friendly rivalry with Mark Stiles; these two can usually be found racing each other at most of the meetings they attend! Chris took up 1/12th circuit racing in 2006 and has achieved success in this class very quickly. He features in the national A finals and has won several national championship meetings already. He is also a frequent competitor at international level in both the 1/12th circuit and 1/10th touring car classes.Chris has raced at WRCC previously, when the Mardave hot-rod class was popular on Tuesday nights. After a short break from racing at WRCC he is back. His latest venture is into micro off road, so expect to see him at WRCC’s Monday night race meetings on a regular basis.Chris is a fierce competitor and will do everything it takes to get one over on his competitors. He races cleanly, but will not up a position without a fight! Despite spending large amounts of time preparing his cars, he admits to not being able to set a car up, and has gained the nickname ‘Crisis Kerswell’, as he always seems rushed at meetings and is usually late! |

Name: Matt Richardson
Classes Currently Raced: 1/12th Oval Bangers, 1/8th Oval Favourite Track: WRCC Favourite Class: 1/12th Oval Bangers Best Results: 2006 WRCC Bangers Club Champion, 2007 Bangers Farina Frenzy champion, 2004 & 2005 WRCC Bangers Pre-70 Champion, 2007 British Banger Champion, 2007 WRCC Banger ‘World Champion’, 2007 BMBSCC Banger ‘World Champion’ About Matt: Matt became interested in RC racing when he saw the Cambridge Club demo racing at the Brentwood Oval motor sport show in 1997. Matt & his brother Mike were instantly hooked & got Mardave V12 hot-rods. Matt then the joined WRCC with brother Mike back in 1998 when it was called High Wycombe Mini Stox Club. Only Mardave hotrods & mini stox ran on a circuit back then and Matt raced an escort in the famous black & white colours with sign writing like the real thing. When the WRCC moved to its current permanent venue in 2000 the club members held an open meeting on a Figure of eight oval with a banked bend. This meeting saw banger racing for the first time at Wycombe. Following this, Matt, Mike and Dan Martin pushed for the formula to be a regular thing at the club on an oval. Bangers built up in numbers and in 2005 a permanent oval was constructed when the club changed hands to become WRCC. Matt will happily race around in search of a race win, but if that is out of his reach he isn’t afraid to turn is car around and go looking for trouble! If there’s a big crash on a banger track then he’s usually involved, although is rarely on the receiving end of the carnage! |
