WRCC Saloon Stox Personal Bests 2011
Saloon stox are based on the full size 2.0 litre and 1300cc Stock Cars seen throughout the UK on the full size oval tracks. In their full size, these cars are purpose built with strong steel chassis and bumpers to take the full-contact that is permitted. Although forceful fencing and "follow-ins" are not permitted in this class.
The 1/12th Saloon Stox are run on Tuesday night race meetings and some open meetings at Wycombe Radio Car Club. The Saloon Stox take their look from the full size cars will large bumpers front and rear. Many drivers run the popular 2.0 litre Sierra Sapphire shell and others choose to run the Nova, Starlet, etc shells also available. Shells for this class must be ABS with all windows cut out.
This class encourages the scratch builder so you will definitely see home grown chassis around the track. However the most popular design is still the Mardave v12 based chassis and there is a kit available for this from Mardave. There is a price limit which means the car (minus electronics and cells) should be under £85.
The cars are permitted to run electronic speed controllers with reverse fitted under £65 and have to run the Mardave G2 brushed motor as used in other 1/12th classes.
The cars can run up to 6-cells though so these cars although heavier have great acceleration and top speed making them very fun to drive. That mixed to full-contact with up to 10 of these cars on the track at any one time make the racing fast and furious!
